We’re currently seeking Covid Screening Programme Training Officer’s in Leicester to work within a state of the art, high output diagnostics laboratory environment as part of the UK’s NHS Test and Trace programme.

As well as playing a vital role in supporting society’s return to a more normal way of life by helping to break the chains of COVID-19 transmission, you will also gain invaluable experience and exposure to some of the country’s most highly skilled individuals in the scientific community.

Your responsibilities:

As a Programme Training Officer you will be responsible for training within the Programme, in particular the laboratory processes and LIMS, ensuring that all required staff receive appropriate induction, training and development in their roles. You will work alongside the Operations Manager and Team Leaders to resolve any problems with individual competencies

As a Programme Training Officer you will deliver regular update reports to the Senior Management Team regarding the functioning and effectiveness of the Training plan including impact on non-conformances and competencies. You will advise on appropriate methods of training and delivery including the selection of internal and external courses and seminars where appropriate.

You will be responsible to contributing to the strategic development of the service in conjunction with the Senior Management Team and assist the Operations Manager in production of reports against KPIs. You will ensure you maintain general knowledge of current technological and scientific developments in the discipline and maintain and update Professional Portfolio and Professional Development Plan as required by the Health Professions Council.

Participate in staff recruitment, selection and induction processes as required and take an active role in the training and education activities of all staff where appropriate, support training of any HCPC state registered staff where appropriate and work flexibly and undertake other duties commensurate to the Band as required.

Your experience:

In order to be successful in the role of the Training Officer , you’ll need the following education, experience and skills:

Education:

  • State Registered BMS (HCPC) or equivalent experience
  • MSc or equivalent Postgraduate qualification
  • Evidence of experience in relevant Training and competency procedures to ISO 17025 and/or ISO 15189 accreditation standards
  • Have relevant experience working in a laboratory environment

Experience:

  • Evidence of excellent communication skills and can demonstrate able to clearly discuss highly complex information to a wide ranging audience
  • Evidence of good team building and leadership skills
  • Evidence of attention to detail and judgement involving a range of highly complex facts or situations which require analysis and interpretation of a range of options

Skills:

  • Demonstrates a commitment to continuing education and training for others.
  • Can be responsive to problems and have ability to meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility to meet the needs of the service.
  • General IT skills.

Strong negotiation skills with staff and external agencies and proven ability to achieve successful outcomes. In addition, the following education and experience are also desirable but not mandatory:

Education:

  • 5 years specialist experience with at least 2 years of supervisory/management experience.
  • Relevant training qualifications.
  • Recognised management qualification at certificate or diploma level or equivalent experience
