Are you a Nuclear Engineer excited by the opportunity to shape and define some of the biggest and complex defence programmes in the UK today? The Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA) are currently seeking an enthusiastic and driven Nuclear Engineer to join our team at Rosyth.

This role will see you directly supporting the introduction of the Submarine Dismantling (SD) capability, working hand in hand with our industry partners. Want to hear what one of our team thinks of their role?

“I would highly recommend working in the SDP; they are a fantastic and friendly team. During my time, I have been able to integrate easily and work alongside people who bring a wealth of experience to the SDA and valuable benefits to the business. The work is always varied and interesting which leads to a breadth of opportunity that can’t be matched in most other jobs. There are also many benefits to joining the MOD that can’t be replicated in the private sector: a sector-leading pension scheme and flexible working arrangements, for example.”

The SDA is also responsible for the decommissioning and dismantling and fully recycling of 27 ex-service nuclear submarines under its Submarine Dismantling Project (SDP) and this vacancy will work within the SDP team in Rosyth. Working in a team of 25 civil servants, you will be directly involved in the delivery of the Submarine Dismantling & Recycling capability, working hand in hand with our industrial partners (Babcock) and suppliers towards delivery of associated projects.

This post is on the MOD Civilian Nuclear Post Control List (PCL) and may attract the Nuclear Recruitment and Retention Allowance (RRA). This is a discretionary allowance. The post being listed on the PCL does not mean that the post holder will have an automatic entitlement to receive the RRA. The NSQEP RRA is not a contractual allowance and can be amended or withdrawn without notice in line with MOD Main and Submarine Delivery Agency policy.

At the SDA, we champion flexible ways of working to support work-life balance. Regular in-person attendance is required at your Primary Duty Station (Rosyth) however, this may vary to promote the benefits of face-to-face collaboration. Initially, you may be expected to attend more frequently to familiarise yourselves with the site, your team and role. You will also be required to attend our remote sites; however, expenses will be paid from your Primary Duty Station.
