The Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA) are currently recruiting for a Business Analyst to based out of MOD HQ Abbey Wood.

The SDA is responsible for the procurement, in service support and disposal of the UK’s Nuclear Submarines and is of significant strategic importance – maintaining some of the most technically complex platforms and equipment in Defence.

As a Business Analyst, you will sit within our IM&IT function, helping the organisation adapt to and implement various major system changes.

We are looking for someone with the ability to investigate, challenge and pursue avenues of enquiry in order to address questions around system and data architectures, interfaces and flows, as well as business processes. Ideally you’ll be experienced in designing and documenting business processes, with experience in Lean methodology too.

Working alongside our internal stakeholders, you’ll be confident in running workshops, assessing the impact of changes on the business whilst understanding the wider business challenges, interdependencies and conflicts. You’ll gain knowledge through research, process mapping, data collection and analysis, requirements gathering to provide appropriate solutions as well as delivering user training.

Responsibilities
  • Investigate, analyse and create documentation of business processes, to define requirements for improving processes and systems.
  • Investigate and elicit detailed requirements to inform the development of new or improved business solutions.
  • Identify new alternative and innovative approaches to performing business activities.
  • Create and iterate viable specifications and acceptance criteria in preparation for the deployment of information and communication systems.
  • Produce detailed business models and assist in the preparation of business cases to support change and innovation, produce detailed cost and benefit analysis, gain buy-in from stakeholder by testing your assumptions.
  • Brief stakeholders and non-technical colleagues on results and options produced from analysis to ensure full understanding of any findings.
  • Maintain and update own knowledge of specialist area to develop own capability and of other Business Analysts.
What You Will Be Assessed Against

To be successful with your application you must demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria:
  • Experience of working as a Business Analyst on projects within an IT delivery organisation
  • An emerging Subject Matter Expert (SME)
  • Business process design / documentation
  • Requirements identification and management
  • Change impact assessment / Gap analysis
It would benefit your application if you be able to demonstrate the following desirable criteria:
  • Systems architecture
  • Data architecture/modelling
  • Lean process methodology
  • Use and understanding of Power BI
In addition to the responsibilities above, the following technical competencies and behaviours will be assessed at interview:
