The RSSL Pharmaceutical Microbiology Laboratory performs a wide range of analyses for a variety of pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, healthcare, and consumer goods companies; it comprises multiple laboratories, including both sterile and non-sterile QC microbiology laboratories.
What you need to know about this position:
The role as Scientist I is to be responsible for performing a range of routine and investigative analyses to support effective completion of projects and meet the customer’s contractual agreements. This role will support the Pharmaceutical Microbiology Analytical Team and will involve:
- Performing a range of routine analyses using sterile and non-sterile techniques, such as those found in the Pharmacopoeias (e.g. Ph. Eur. & USP) and International, European, and/or British standards.
- Performing method validation and method verification as per approved protocols.
- Troubleshooting of laboratory processes and equipment.
- The use of generic and specific software packages required for the role: Compass HT, LIMS system, Q-Pulse, MS Office applications, etc.
- Working in accordance with the quality and EHS (environment, health, and safety) standards within the Pharmaceutical Microbiology laboratories.
- Writing quality records such as Deviations, Out-of-Specifications, and Change Controls.
- Devising and implementing appropriate CAPAs.
- Completing assigned quality actions on a timely manner.
- Maintaining a clean, tidy, and safe working environment.
- Liaising with clients, business development, and line management to ensure effective communication of project proposals and results.
- Participating in client and stakeholder meetings as required.
- Delivering presentations to clients and stakeholders as required.
What you will bring
- Proven experience of working within a Pharmaceutical Microbiology laboratory at Containment Level 2.
- Practical experience and technical knowledge of one or more of the following: Microbial Limit Testing, Kinetic Endotoxin Analysis, or Sterility Testing.
- Educated to degree level in a Bioscience discipline such as Microbiology or equivalent relevant laboratory experience.
- Meticulous attention to detail and an ability to follow written instructions.
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and quick to learn.
- Well organized and capable of working on multiple activities concurrently.
- Knowledge of Pharmaceutical Quality Systems and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) - Preferred
