BAT UK IS LOOKING FOR A SAFETY DATA SHEETS AUTHOR

SENIORITY LEVEL:Experienced

FUNCTION: Operations (Soon to be moved to R&D SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH CAPABILITY)

SUB FUNCTION:Product Deployment (Soon to be moved to PRODUCT COMPLIANCE)

LOCATION:Southampton, UK

ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES

What are the key objectives and expectations from this role?

The main purpose of this role is to support business of tobacco alternative products (e-liquids and oral pouches) by authoring and maintaining Safety Data Sheets (SDS) of products. Support for administrative tasks to keep track of SDSs and relevant data is also expected from this role.


What is the direct impact of this role on the team or organization?

Safety Data Sheets created by this role are the main tool for communication of hazard and precaution information throughout the supply chain. This information would be used for safe handling, transportation, use and storage of products by workers during those operations. Safety Data Sheet is also a critical part of ensuring legal compliance of our products and packaging labels, which is a critical requirement for shipments.

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR

  • To author Safety Data Sheets using dedicated software
  • To issue/send Safety Data Sheet to internal recipients
  • To collect required data for authoring Safety Data Sheets, from internal and external data sources
  • To communicate labelling data for packaging labels.
  • To maintain excel spreadsheets for tracking the created and communicated Safety Data Sheet
  • To maintain soft document folders for sharing the Safety Data Sheet with internal stakeholders
  • Assigned chemical management and delivery of chemical compliance assessments through the application of appropriate means learned from knowledge and experience and thorough understanding of materials and consumables, ensuring that the assessments conducted meet BAT Product Guidance, BAT Duty of Care standards and legal requirements.


CAN THIS BE YOUR FUTURE ROLE?

  • Have you ever read through a legal directive or regulation and assess/interpret it?
  • Are you familiar with hazards of chemicals and hazards symbols on packaging labels of chemicals?
  • Have you had any kind of training or course or lesson about or including hazards of chemicals?

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Fluent verbal and writing capabilities in English
  • Very good attention to detail
  • Good analytical skills and data-affinity
  • Proficiency on MS Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work unsupervised and under pressure whilst maintaining flexibility
  • Previous experience and understanding in creating Safety Data Sheets
  • A good first degree in a relevant chemical/technical discipline or MSc in chemical sciences or toxicology or health sciences and/or expertise developed through experience and positive track record.
