ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES

This role is part of Information and Digital Technology Function (IDT).

The role is responsible for designing and shaping the digital strategy and roadmap of the Finance and Legal and External Affairs (LEX) functions with a keen commercial focus in an evolving business model. Implementation of the initiatives and platforms/products related to the strategy. Building strong digital capability across the functions and own team. Introducing new ways of working in a large global organisation. Trusted, strategic technology advisor to the business and key point of communications all things digital.

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR

• Shape and drive the implementation of a bold data and digital strategy for the global Finance and LEX functions
• Keep abreast of digital innovation and proactively identify opportunities where technology and digital solutions can help drive Finance and LEX objectives.
• Well-respected and visible leader of the technology function, influencing and building strong relationships with senior managers and key stakeholders across BAT.
• Represent Finance and LEX to the IDT Leadership Team and inform and influence strategic decision making accordingly.
• Provide inspirational leadership to the team, creating an environment of continuous learning where staff are encouraged to grow and develop and are willing to be held accountable for their commitments.
• Be responsible for overall programme delivery, project and change management methodologies, overseeing the investment budget, and helping to manage demand to optimise overall outcome to the Group. S/he will be accountable for technology budgets, projects, and supplier relationships.
• Work in partnership with the senior technology leaders across IDT to ensure that solutions leverage common platforms.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• An outstanding technology leader who has hands on experience of shaping and delivering game-changing technology roadmaps working closely with senior stakeholders as key internal customers.
• Experience of operating in a digitally mature, global and forward-thinking business.
• Able to demonstrate a blend of strategic thinking and vision with a track record of delivering complex technology initiatives through others, adding measurable business value.
• Experience in implementing agile practices, design thinking and DevOps, including creating capability and mindset in their teams and with senior stakeholders.
• Implementation and delivery of digital technology and services such as data analytics, Automation, AI and blockchain with a customer focused mindset.
• Experience of initiating and managing cultural change in a way which enhances company performance.
• An outstanding leader of people who can inspire and motivate through times of considerable change. Able to quickly gain credibility and win the trust and buy-in from IT professionals, business leaders and a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.
• Complex stakeholder management and strong commercial mindset is crucial to the success of this role.
• Experience in working with multiple technology partners to drive delivery through an in-house and 3rd party ecosystem Comfortable with ambiguity; possesses an excellent ability to manage change and undertake planning.
• A bold decision-maker who takes early decisions, uses data and rigour where necessary but good instinct is vital, too.
• Innovative and creative, can develop original solutions to problems and explore new ways of thinking whilst remaining business and customer focused.

Education / Qualifications / Certifications Required

• Information Technology/Engineering or related degree/equivalent experience required
