The function of the Research Data & Outputs Coordinator is to maintain information management systems and reports for corporate R&I, the NIHR Nottingham BRC and the NIHR Nottingham CRF. The responsibilities of this post will require close interaction with other R&I team members, as output data will be fundamental to performance indicators required for the success and growth of research and future funding opportunities for R&I, the BRC and the CRF.

The post holder will be responsible for providing administrative support to ensure that all corporate R&I, BRC and CRF outcome measures are collected and inputted onto the relevant IT systems. The Coordinator will work across different teams including the University of Nottingham and will assist the Senior Management Team in ensuring the smooth functioning of all data collection, entry and reporting, relating to the implementation of outcome measures.

Main duties of the job

  • To monitor return of all R&I, BRC and CRF outcome measures and implement system for reminding research staff of outstanding data.
  • To ensure the Senior Management Team are kept informed of outstanding data.
  • To ensure all data is input in the relevant IT systems in a timely manner so reports can be produced.
  • To assist the Senior Management Team to develop, implement and monitor appropriate systems for evaluating the corporate R&I, BRC and CRF performance.
  • To assist in producing reports on the outcome measures.
  • To provide support and training to clinicians and research staff on our IT systems and relevant administrative processes and procedures.
  • To ensure information about patients is kept confidential at all levels in accordance with Trust policy and the Data Protection Act.
  • To work within the Trust’s Procedures & Policies framework, collecting and reporting activity data as required by the Senior Management Team.
  • To ensure database and IT equipment (R&I, BRC and CRF) is maintained and faults reported immediately.
  • In keeping with Trust policy ensure high standards of data collection and confidentiality of clinical material encountered in such activities.
  • To contribute to the management and development of the R&I, BRC and CRF administrative systems.
  • To undertake audits of administrative systems including data quality checks, office procedures, etc.

Please note that this role is within scope under Vaccination as a Condition of Deployment (VCOD)’ Legislation due to come into effect from 1st April 2022. The successful applicant will therefore be required to have a full COVID-19 vaccination status or confirmed medical exemption.

Training & Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to diploma level e.g., HND/HNC or equivalent experience.
  • Evidence of continuous personal development.
Desirable criteria
  • Strong numeric skills.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Proven experience in an administration role, including audio typing.
  • Experience of training and coaching others in the interpretation of information.
  • Proven experience of information handling and analysis gained in a work environment.
  • Experience of working within the NHS, or similar organisation with an understanding of Department of Health reporting processes.
  • Substantial experience of writing and running data reports in Microsoft Excel.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of information management within the field of research.
  • Substantial experience of using relational databases and of data management.

Communication & Relationship Skills

Essential criteria
  • Excellent people skills. Ability to work with and to influence, a wide range of people.
  • Proven experience in using database software, for managing, analysing and presenting information to a variety of audiences.

  • Knowledge of Department of Health / NIHR policy and guidance relating to performance standards, information returns and reporting definitions.
  • Broad understanding of relevant Government Research Strategies and implications for the Trust.
