Job content

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research Assistant (RA) to work collaboratively alongside Dr Sue Hull PI and Natural England (NE) to trial suitable bird survey methods that will then be used to collect primary data relating to bird site use, habitat description metrics and the distribution of both birds and habitats within the estuary. The post will involve field-based data collection across the Humber region, especially during the over-wintering period. The RA will also source and manage secondary data and collate all the available information for data analysis in order to determine habitat suitability for waterbirds and waders and model the distribution of sites within the estuary. Maps of bird and habitat distribution will be produced in order to identify a network of suitable sites in the Humber region and these will then inform the development of the NE management process. The successful candidate will have a BSc in a relevant subject at 2:1 level and a MSc qualification and should be working towards or finalising a PhD. They must be willing to work flexible hours around tides and ideally have experience of bird surveys and drafting reports. They will also be required to work collaboratively with the stakeholders presenting the findings at the regular meetings. They will be based at Hull University and line managed by Dr Sue Hull (PI) and will be encouraged to engage in the continual development programme at the University.Applicants should submit a covering letter and a CV outlining their experience.Any queries relating to the post should be emailed through to Sue Hull on the following email address: s.hull@hull.ac.ukEmail details to a friendApply OnlineFurther details:
