The post holder will lead the further development, delivery, support and quality enhancement of palliative care research and teaching for the Medical School and will provide leadership and management for the academic staff directly involved in development, conduct and dissemination of high quality applied health research in the Wolfson Palliative Care Research Centre (WPCRC).

The WPCRC’s research is focused on under-researched symptoms, reducing inequalities, improving access to and optimising delivery of palliative care, and improving wellbeing of those receiving palliative care, including measurement of outcomes (see ).

Hull York Medical School is the joint Medical School of the Universities of Hull and York. We are one of the UK’s most exciting contemporary schools, delivering innovative and rigorous medical education and research. If relevant, the post requires full professional registration and membership on the appropriate clinical register (medical, nursing or other), with experience in the design, delivery and dissemination of applied health research in the field of palliative care.

If the appointee is clinically qualified, the post holder will be expected to undertake clinical practice in a palliative care setting within the HYMS teaching area for 2 sessions per week depending on level of academic appointment; we will assist the successful applicant to find a suitable clinical practice.
