Base Location: Glasgow or Flexible UK | We’re proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will, however need your base ’home’ location to be one of our c350 offices or depots around the UK and Ireland.

Salary: Up to £69,100 depending on experience + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

What is the role?

Our Capital Projects teams are responsible for developing and building our Renewables Assets, both onshore and offshore with a focus on maximising the value of our current pipelines, whilst pursuing new markets.

We are looking to recruit a Lead Consent Manager to cover maternity leave on a fixed 12 month contract. This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a dedicated consents team across our growing portfolio of projects.

As a Lead Consents Manager
  • You will lead and deliver necessary consents and licences to enable development activities to take place, manage and engage with key stakeholders, consent discharge and consent compliance and project management on one some of the largest wind developments in the world.
  • You will work as part of the wider SSE Renewables development team, with the potential to work across one of the largest development portfolios of offshore and onshore wind projects in the UK and Ireland with sites at a variety of different stages of development.
What do I need?
  • We are looking for dynamic and delivery focused individual who preferably have experience in consenting UK offshore renewables but other sectors will be considered. The successful candidate should have demonstrable experience and understanding of offshore and / or terrestrial planning system in the UK and coordination of consultants delivering Environmental Impact Assessments in support of the consent submission.
  • It is essential that you can work effectively both independently and wider SSE Renewables team, managing internal and external resources and supporting and mentoring junior team members, deputising for senior colleagues and engaging in strategic discussions on complex technical and environmental issues.
  • You will be able to provide consenting advice to internal development teams on consenting strategy and manage consenting risks and opportunities on projects.
  • Your personality should be seen in your ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders including regulators, statutory and non-statutory advisors, coupled with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • A commercial approach to all work is expected, challenging colleagues, stakeholders and contractors to manage risk, achieve viable solutions to consenting issues and support overall project objectives.
  • A good working knowledge and understanding of project governance around approvals and programme and financial management procedures will be required, as will an innovative approach when addressing consenting issues and their resolution.
