About The Role

Base Location: Flexible UK & Ireland, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key sites, which includes but is not limited to:- Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness, Reading, Havant, London, Belfast or Dublin.

What is the Role?

As a Geophysicist you’ll play a key role in our Engineering and Innovation Centre’s Geoscience Team providing geophysical & survey delivery support to our offshore wind portfolio of projects.

Main Accountabilities May Include
  • Planning, execution, and delivery of offshore geophysical surveys from the initial 2DUHRS scouting surveys through to pre-construction UXO and Engineering surveys.
  • Inputting into planning and managing geophysical survey activities including preparing scopes of work, contractor selection, management, interpretation, and ground modelling.
  • Reviewing and distributing survey deliverables to meet the requirements of SSE, and the various stakeholders.
  • Reviewing technical reports and interpretation deliverables, including desk studies, factual reports, interpretative reports, supplied GIS and more.
  • Ensuring survey works are delivered in accordance with contract requirements and specifications, proactively managing delays, challenges, and survey budgets.
What do I need?

We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills and who is educated to degree level in Geophysics, or a related geoscience discipline and have a comprehensive understanding of technical and operational issues regarding offshore site investigation. Holding Chartership or working towards your Chartership Professional Review with either Institution of Civil Engineers or The Geological Society would be an advantage.

Due to the nature of this role, we would love you to have experience in most of the following areas:
  • Good working knowledge of delivering answers using the standard interpretation software packages including Kingdom, Oasis Montaj and ARCGIS.
  • Experience of supervising and delivering geophysical surveys to support all stages and components of offshore wind development.
  • Experience of supervising survey and reporting activities to ensure the delivery of quality, detailed interpretation of those datasets.
  • Good knowledge of the techniques required to deliver ground modelling to support project engineering decisions
  • UXO, Geohazard and risk mitigation and management for consents and engineering.
A level of travel will be required, therefore, you should have a full and valid driving license.
