Description

The Role

As a Paralegal you will gain exposure and be given the opportunity to assist Partners and the wider team on a variety of real estate transactions.

This role would suit a Paralegal who aspires to progress their legal career in the long term. You will be given an opportunity to broaden and develop your skills with a view to assuming greater levels of responsibility.

You will assist fee earners with the following:

  • Reviewing and preparing documents to issue on sales of Properties, leases and funding transactions
  • Managing data and records
  • Assisting with admin preparation
  • Preparing documents for completion
  • Drafting forms and legal documentation
  • Assist with obtaining and distributing updates to progress transactions
  • Communicating orally and in writing with a variety of recipients
  • Providing support to fee earners

The Team

Our national Real Estate team has an outstanding reputation for its technical and commercial expertise across all disciplines, including commercial development, commercial investment, mixed-use development, landlord and tenant, retail and leisure, finance, real estate litigation, planning and environmental.

The Leeds team has an enviable reputation for specialising in real estate development, finance, investment and joint ventures and complex real estate development matters including town centre regeneration, retail office and distribution parks and residential promotion and collaboration. Clients include major house builders, public sector sponsors and occupiers, investors, financiers, and corporate occupiers.

The Person

We are interested in speaking with candidates who are enthusiastic, have a keen interest in law, a thirst for learning; enjoy working in a team, able to manage their own workload, and who have an eye for detail.

Our desired candidate will have a degree in law and have ideally passed the LPC or be working towards a post-graduate legal qualification.

We are also open to applicants who are experienced ’career paralegals’ or experienced legal secretaries who have demonstrable paralegal experience gained in a real estate team. Please note, candidates with similar experience or strength in related areas of law will be considered.

In particular, we look for the following attributes:

  • Minimum of 12 months paralegal or secretarial experience assisting on real estate transactions, in particular; preparing first drafts, making amendments, undertaking SDLT tax returns & SDLT searches and general day to day land registry activities.
  • First class communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to produce documents efficiently and with ease is essential.
  • Willingness to learn and develop colleague & client relationships.
  • Excellent levels of accuracy.
  • Attention to detail and excellent organisation skills.
  • Experience of Microsoft Office is essential.
