About The RoleQuickstart vacancies are applicable to 18-24 year olds living in the Vale of Glamorgan
Pay Details (Based on age): 18 to 20 - £6.83; 21 to 22 - £9.18; 23 and Over - £9.50
Hours of Work / Working Pattern: 25 hour per week
Location: Penarth Pier Pavilion
Temporary Reason: Temporary for 6 months due to funding of scheme
Description:
The role of Event Assistant will be work alongside the Penarth Pavilion Manager in handling event enquiries via email/phone and in-person for this multi-use events venue. The position will include assisting with a wide range of duties as required, as the Pavilion opens for use by the local and wider community.
Duties will include;
- Reception cover, front of house cover at events, conducting onsite viewings for wedding and event clients, general administration and responding to a wide range of enquiries looking to book the Pavilion event space.
- The role will also cover social media marketing and assisting with room set ups for events and the following de-rigs.
- The role of Event Assistant will suit a well-presented, confident individual who enjoys multi-tasking, working with people, with a ‘can do’ proactive attitude to their work. Attention to detail is necessary.
You will need:
- Good customer service skills.
- Marketing experience or qualification.
- Experience of working in the events/hospitality industry.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to deal with customer queries in person, in writing and over the phone.
- Ability to have own transport would be an advantage
- Participants will be fully supported by the Adult Community Learning employability team, who will support them to improve all aspects of their employability skills.
- This will be supported and reinforced though on the job training by their line manager.

- Quickstart Pre-employment workshops (CV writing support / Interview preparation skills) provided to applicants on Thurs 27th and Friday 28th October at Palmerston Adult Education Centre, Barry.
- Completed CVs received from Quickstart applicants to be emailed out (via the Quickstart Facilitator) to Vale departmental managers by Monday 31st October
- Interviews to be set by individual departments upon receipt of CVs
- Placement start date to be confirmed (Nov 2022).
