Overview:
Element has an opportunity for a new Purchase Ledger Clerk to join our team. This is a great opportunity to join one of the fastest growing global leaders in the Testing, Inspection and Certification sector.

Our new Purchase Ledger Clerk will report to the European AP Manager within Element’s Shared Service Centre (SSC) in Newbridge, Edinburgh. The position plays a crucial role in the daily upkeep of our accounts payable department. The role holder will develop a strong collaborative working relationship with the SSC and with the multiple laboratories and locations across the UK and Europe.

Responsibilities:
You will strive for best practice and work collaboratively on continuous improvement initiatives across the AP function and you will be a self-motivated team player with strong communication skills and a solution-oriented mindset. With an excellent eye for detail, you will always strive to deliver brilliant outcomes for your customers.

In this new role you will be responsible for the execution of payments across multiple systems ensuring all payments are made timely and accurately, working to ensure effective controls are maintained, with key responsibilities including:
  • Daily download of multiple bank statements and posting to customer accounts
  • Preparation of weekly payment runs which includes pulling invoices for payment from multiple AP systems
  • Monthly Intercompany payment runs
  • Cash Forecasting in line with all treasury requirements
  • Download and allocation of credit card statements
  • Weekly Bank reconciliations
  • Resolve queries with credit controllers on unallocated cash/remittances
  • Drive continuous improvement ideas
  • Work as knowledge partner of Element lab assigned and their vendors / customers for AP related topics
Skills / Qualifications:
  • Previous experience off working in AP department in a SSC environment advantageous
  • Experience in multi-site / location accounts payable support
  • Studying towards an Accountancy Qualification beneficial
  • Experience with Navision / AX experience desirable (although training will be provided)
  • Proficient in MS Excel
  • Excellent analytical skills and knowledge of accounting and financial principles
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and comprehension skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret accounting related documents
  • Ability to effectively communicate inside organisation (manager, peers, members of Element team) as well as externally (vendors)
  • Demonstrated problem resolution skills
  • Attention to detail is critical
  • Ability to remain calm when faced with deadlines and multiple priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to function as part of a team
  • Additional language skills other than English is advantageous
