As SGS’s PR manager, you will develop a coherent and progressive approach to Public relations to support the Group business strategy.

Reporting to the Global Head of Corporate Affairs you will play an important role in increasing SGS’s public image using media & PR, institutional marketing, financial reporting and events. You will contribute to developing and implementing the global media strategy and media room, on and offline communications, the communication Playbook, support the production of financial material and support our crisis management.

You will ensure best practice and sustainable representation of SGS Group through all communication channels to all key audiences. You will be responsible on instigating the best KPI’s to measure and quantify the efficiency and performance of SGS communications.

In this key outward facing role, you will

  • Work in close cooperation with the businesses and SGS affiliates to understand market specificities and necessary adaptations to be made to communications.
  • Create and adapt content to support SGS’ global PR effort and strategy, building effective media distribution channels.
  • Support strategy implementation and cultural change through effective PR.
  • Support crisis management.
  • Play an important role in supporting the creation of Group reports, financial publications and communications.
  • Support management of the global communication community.
  • Lead cross-functional communities consisting of members of various business and function leads in order to ensure communication excellence and adherence to Corporate guidelines and standards.
  • Help develop and implement the communication Playbook.
  • Executive communications and speech writing (when required).

More specifically, you will:

  • Implement the global PR strategy through appropriate channels (global media, PR, reporting, institutional marketing and events).
  • Build and measure media/editorial coverage within the digital space as well as offline channels.
  • Input stories into the global editorial calendar and act as a member of the global editorial committee.
  • Build up target media/PR lists for SGS and industries we serve and for our core markets.
  • Build and develop relationships with target online and offline media and influencers.
  • Create press releases and other media content, pitch stories to the media, prepare media kits and organize corporate events.
  • Review press releases and outline media strategies for key marketing or local communications projects.
  • Crisis prevention and support with communications in case of issues or crisis and support the Group spokesperson, the Group VP Corporate Communications.
  • Continuously review the crisis manual and PR handbook and update the internal team site to support on Media, PR and event. Develop press room and Media, PR and Event Playbook.
  • Outline and implement training for spokespeople around the Group and deploy training on the crisis plan.
  • Develop and share best practices, templates and guidance/playbooks on media / PR activities and become the lighthouse that builds media, PR and Events performance across the company.
  • Manage agency for media monitoring, ensuring that correct terms are being tracked and that the reports/alerts are delivered to the correct stakeholders.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role we would expect you to have:

  • Proven PR experience, with a full understanding of media needs and media relationships (digital and offline)
  • Experience working in an international environment and understanding of complex organizations
  • Previous experience working with teams across geographies
  • Native English Speaker, German or French an asset
  • Experience in crisis management
  • Experience in event project management

We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive, reliable individual, with a digital focus and a proven expertise in media, PR and events and crisis management.

You should have excellent interpersonal skills with a desire to work cross-functionally and be a confident communicator and presenter and have keen attention to detail.

You should also have proven ability to influence cross-functional teams with or without formal authority, and a natural curiosity and capacity to understand the complexities of different industries and target audiences.
