We are looking to recruit a driven and dynamic SEN tutor to join our College staff team who is able to demonstrate previous experience of delivering Personal and Social Development (PSD). The SEN tutor will be responsible for guiding our students across the Foundation PSD department in realising their potential by fully supporting them in gaining the knowledge, practical skills and techniques needed for independence, work preparation, personal and social development.
In doing so our students will gain the confidence and self-esteem they need to progress to independent living and supported employment. The ideal candidate will have significant experience working with young adults 16+ with SEND. They will work alongside the PSD Manager to monitor and report on PSD targets across the department. The SEN tutor will work one-on-one or with a small group of students, they will be able to guide and monitor support staff in the department as well as document students progress to discuss with parents, guardians, and tutors across college.
Candidates should ideally be able to show;
Proven experience working with young people 16+ with SEND
Relevant teaching qualification (essential)
BSL Level 1 or above (desirable)
Able to serve as a positive role model and mentor
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Understanding of subject matter relevant to students’ need
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel) and tutoring programs
Strong organisational skills
Efficient time management and a flexible approach to work
Able to take on many tasks at once and prioritize them by importance and relevance
Creative and able to foster a positive learning environment
