  • Purpose of the role The primary purpose of the role is the effective management of complex equipment with a multi-disciplined team into a highly regulated industry for critical applications. Providing leadership, accountability, direction and prioritisation of resources to deliver to time, cost and quality throughout the full lifecycle from concept phase to life in service and in some instances product retirement.
  • Key responsibilities and tasks 2.1
Accountable for delivering complex technical projects using business standard project management tools such as gantt charts, ROI trackers. 2.2

Responsible for the day to day management of a matrix and / or integrated project team. 2.3

Responsible for financial planning, tracking and forecasting assigned projects. 2.4

Responsible for the creation, maintenance and presentation of project information to various stakeholders, including customers, Senior management team, project teams. 2.5

Accountable for robust contractual and project baseline control management is adopted to manage change effectively and deliver an appropriate level of business management reporting. 2.6

Accountable for the management and delivery of the project within the project life cycle process. 2.7

Promote best practice, support and develop project team to maximise efficiency and effective delivery. 2.8

Support the business via the management of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) 2.9

Customer management and reporting of assigned projects. 2.10

Ensure buy in from stakeholders to project plan and proactively manage impact resolution / reduction 2.11

Support new business bids within the scope of the Project Management role.
  • General activities 3.1
Support the Head of Project with process and tool improvements 3.2

Carry out any other ad-hoc duties as required to support the needs of the business. 3.3

Provide a professional backup service for colleagues during peak times or during absence. 3.4

Maintain continuous professional development to ensure knowledge is up to date. 3.5

Act as an ambassador for the company in all interactions with customers and the public. Qualifications, experience and skills Essential

Demonstrable professional knowledge of working in Project / Programme Management, ideally in a complex highly regulated engineering environment. Proven track record of managing projects to Time Cost Quality. Excellent communication skills and ability to negotiate and influence others, including building and maintaining effective relationships with multiple stakeholders both internal and external. Strong presentation skills, confident speaker and professionally presented. Attention to detail, forward planning and budgeting / financial knowledge. Knowledge of the full project life cycle stage-gate principles of project delivery. Ability to work with diverse project teams and stakeholders. Working knowledge of risk and opportunity management and lessons learned processes. Experience of Microsoft Project and Office suite applications Commercial and business management awareness. Keen focus on continuous improvement. Experience of Project Management methodologies (Prince2, APM PMQ, PMP) Desirable

Qualified in industry standard Project management methodologies (APM or similar) Degree qualified or demonstrable relevant experience. Strong understanding of processes involved in planning and strategy, organisation and governance. Experience of working within the Defence or similar Industry Understanding of Matrix Management. Previous experience of an ERP/MRP system Experience within a lean manufacturing environment Business transformation / process improvement experience Role travel requirements The duties of this appointment relate to the UK but you may be required to travel when required by the Company. It is not envisaged that you shall be required to work outside the UK for more than one month. Some customer visits may be required outside of the UK. Other requirements

Candidates must have an existing right to live and work in the UK Candidates must have passed UK security clearance to Security Check level or be able to obtain this level.
