Currently recruiting for a Project Engineer with experience of delivering large-scale operational communications (Ops Comms) projects within rail to work on Highspeed Speed 2 (HS2) Telecommunications projects and subsequent solution design. In this senior engineering position, you will have the opportunity to influence the technology and solution for one of the most exciting national infrastructure projects this decade.
Ideally candidates will be able to work from a London office at least 2 days a week. Working from home is possible when not required in the office.

Role Profile:

Reporting to the Engineering Lead, you will be part of a virtual team responsible for delivering the Engineering aspects of the HS2 tender response and the subsequent delivery of the HS2 Telecommunications infrastructure with our partner organisation. You will specifically be responsible for delivering the Operational Communications (operational telephony, signalling, voice, copper and fibre) solution.

Key responsibilities:


  • Analyse the requirements for the Operational Communications and SCADA for HS2
  • Provide input to the engineering structure and effort required to fulfil those requirements
  • Work closely with the wider team to support the tender response from the business
  • Work with partners to specify the equipment utilised and architect the solutions
  • Provide cost breakdowns for effort and bill of materials for equipment
  • Help drive the delivery methodology and strategy in line with win themes for the bid
  • Ensuring the highest quality output for a winning response
  • Support the Program Manager in programming the works
Skills, experience and qualifications required:
  • Experience of engineering delivery of large-scale Ops Comms projects within rail
  • Ops Comms solution design experience
  • Pre-sales experience working on tender responses including:


o Provision of bill of materials
o Working with partners
o Cost estimates for engineering activities
o Methodology and programs of work


  • Knowledge of Relocatable Electronic Buildings (REB) specifications
  • Engineering degree or equivalent qualification (HNC minimum requirement)
  • Relevant Rail certification preferable (CEM, CRE, TIC desirable)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence others
  • Attention to detail
