MacArthur Recruitment is looking for an experienced Project Engineer, from a mechanical engineering background, to work for a UK organisation in Cumbria, who are involved with hands-on engineering-focussed industries across nuclear, construction, defence, renewables, etc.
The Project Engineer will be the main technical lead on multi-discipline projects and a team of engineers, in a workshop environment, executing multiple projects to budget, quality and time; reporting to and able to deputise for the Project Manager.
Strong planning and multi-tasking abilities are key in this role.
Responsibilities
For The Role Of Project Engineer
- Assess project requirements from a technical perspective.
- Deliver work in accordance with the business management systems and to plan, monitor, forecast and control various aspects of a project. In particular safety, quality, technical, schedule and resource.
- Oversee the manufacture of complex components and assemblies including any testing and commissioning activities.
- Ensure the project is undertaken safely in accordance with the legislative requirements appertaining to the project and to ensure the customer’s requirements are satisfied.
- Produce reports and documentation where required and provide technical advice within the Project.
- Produce the Bill of Materials, including identifying all technical and quality requirements to allow the procurement of both goods and services.
- Liaise with manufacturers, organise and or carry our inspection and expediting activities to satisfy the project requirements.
- Set up, control and be responsible for the safe, efficient and timely erection and commissioning of plant and equipment both within workshop assembly and at customers site. This is to include incorporation of as built modifications within the final project document packages.
- Work individually or as part of a larger project team, which may be led by either an equivalent or a Project Manager.
- Deputise for the Project Manager if required.
, Skills & Experience
- Experience in understanding and applying client specifications and quality requirements.
- Manufacturing background with a focus on quality
- Minimum HNC in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience of managing a multi-discipline team of engineers executing multiple projects to budget and schedule.
- Multi-tasking
- Read and interpret drawings
- Ability to plan and prepare work to prevent poor performance and to foresee where potential problems may occur.
- Effective Communicator.
- Experience within a manufacturing environment
- IOSH Managing Safely desirable
- Nuclear industry experience desirable
- This is an established company with a good pipeline of orders

- 35 days holiday (incl BH), Pension – 6%
