E3R are working in partnership with a leading hydraulic hose manufacturer in the West Yorkshire area looking to recruit a Process Engineer. Reporting to the Technical Manager this role will require an experienced Process Engineer with the relevant experience ideally within a fast paced Manufacturing environment.

Role Purpose
This role will drive manufacturing process improvements and extend production capability. This will address improvements in areas such as, but not exclusively:

  • Production time / cycle time
  • Process & product variation leading to reductions in non-conformances
  • Scrap
  • Production capacity
  • Analysis, data gathering and objective assessment to provide information for agreed action. This will feed into the Global Excellence in Manufacturing framework within the group.

Main duties and responsibilities

This role requires strong communication with the management structure of the production facilities to establish the scope and priority for manufacturing process improvements. This will require a thorough understanding of Aflex’s processes for the manufacture of hose assemblies (from raw material to finished product).

Support the process of agreeing priorities engagement in manufacturing related management and continuous improvement tools will be required. These include product and process FMEA, root cause analysis, 8D on NCR’s (internal and external customers), 5Y’s, 5s, shop floor layout, cell design; this list is not exhaustive and will evolve where appropriate tools and techniques for problem solving are deployed.
Engineering solutions will require a mix of direct hands-on and coordinating the resources from other departments.

Project management: Projects will be managed as appropriate. It is expected that planning will be carried out to define cost, time and human resource requirements. Budgets will be agreed and managed as necessary.

Design: Equipment specification will be inherent within this role. However, a project department for equipment will support these activities and close communication across this interface will be needed.

Implementation: The implementation of equipment, training, written procedures and managed hand-over to production is the responsibility of this role for agreed projects. The scope will cover both new installations and improvements to existing facilities and processes.

Qualifications

Ideally you will be time-served in a mechanical / production engineering or related role with an HNC / HND / BEng qualification or similar.
