We are now looking for a Press and Media Officer to join our Corporate Communications and PR department on a full-time permanent basis.

The Role



As a Press and Media Officer, you will assist in delivering a strong public profile for the University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) across multi-media outlets and assist in developing the University’s presence within digital, print and broadcast media.




Furthermore, you will write compelling copy for different audiences and publications, including press releases, commentaries, case studies of students and staff, announcements, advertisements, websites, blogs, social media posts, and assist in creating videos and podcasts.




You will ensure the accuracy and appropriateness of information published about the University and its services in print and online, ensuring that the University’s key messages are communicated appropriately and effectively to its stakeholders.




Additionally, you will liaise with academic and expert staff to ensure that opportunities are sought to showcase their expertise in newspapers, journals, magazines, television and radio as well as through online media channels.




About You

To be considered as a Press and Media Officer, you will need:




  • A degree or equivalent professional qualification in Journalism, Communication, PR or related discipline

  • Experience of working within a press, public relations role or related role

  • Good knowledge and experience of working with multi-media platforms, including social media/websites

  • Excellent IT skills

  • Availability to work on weekends and evenings, as well as travelling between campuses and other locations when required



Previous experience of working within a University or other higher education setting would also be beneficial to your application.




The ability to speak and write in Welsh would be desirable for this role.
