The Company

A market leading engineering company undergrowing a significant period of growth now require an PLC Controls Engineer.

The Role
  • The PLC Programmer will work as part of a team developing software and hardware applications that support the needs of the site.
  • The employee will apply expert knowledge in PLC and associated systems design and programming to develop and support existing and future manufacturing equipment.
  • Additional duties will include project work and periodic support for other business areas depending on Company needs.
  • Efficiently deliver robust PLC software solutions meeting or exceeding the requirements of in-house development production / test processes and equipment.
  • Obtain, analyse and report production data to support fact-based business decisions.
  • Developing and installing PLC machine programs using automation software and custom coding languages.
  • Determining machine automation test criteria before the final installation.
  • Testing automated systems for efficiency, safety, and reliability.
  • Troubleshooting system errors.
  • Overseeing the successful installation of PLC programs.
  • Maintaining existing PLC system.
  • Documenting development processes.
  • Recording of documentation.
  • Providing technical support, in particular with PLC trained Maintenance staff.
  • Undertake training and development activities where appropriate.
  • Occasional travel off-site to conduct inspection of new equipment, attend training courses and provide support to remote sites.
The Person
  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in software engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a similar field.
  • Previous employment within a Manufacturing environment
  • Able to demonstrate practical, technical, and analytical engineering skills.
  • Familiarity with following style guides and code review processes
  • Detailed knowledge and experience of PLC automation software and coding languages.
  • Able to work effectively within a Team or as an individual.
  • Capable of leading Teams to deliver Project goals
  • Fanuc Robot Programming (Desirable)
  • Familiar with typical Windows PC / Microsoft Office tools.
  • PLC technical certification.
  • Previous experience as a PLC programmer / Engineer.
  • Electrical and mechanical engineering experience preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing and mechanical processes.
  • Knowledge of software design principals.
  • Proficiency in CAD and AutoCAD software.
