My name is Lisa Broom, I am the Pharmacy Operational Manager for Dispensaries and Near Patient Services at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. I have worked for the Trust for 25years and am proud to lead our Operational Team in providing a dispensary service, supplying in-patient, outpatient and discharge medication to Patients throughout the Trust.

Due to impending maternity leave of the current post-holder, I am looking for an experienced Pharmacy Technician to take on the role of Pharmacy Site Operational Manager for the John Radcliffe Dispensary, leading the team of Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Assistants and Apprentices in providing dispensary services to patients and clinical areas throughout the John Radcliffe Hospital.

The Dispensary has recently completed a major refurbishment and installation of new automated Dispensing system and in conjunction with the implementation of a new pharmacy stock control system planned for March 2024, this is a very exciting time to join the team.

The Dispensary issues approximately 35,000 items a month and the Dispensary is an extremely busy and pressurised environment and the post holder will need to be able to juggle a variety of tasks, continually read the work situation and make informed decisions under pressure to ensure that we meet our Key Performance Indicators and that all dispensary related tasks are completed according to standard operating procedures, legal requirements and in a safe and timely manner.

You will need to be a confident decision maker, with clear leadership skills, excellent pharmaceutical knowledge and technical skills and a sound understanding of hospital pharmacy services.

You will be responsible for all aspects of Dispensary staff management, including recruitment, induction and training of new staff to the team, conducting appraisals for designated staff and one to one discussions, through to performance or disciplinary processes should they arise.

You will undertake risk assessments for dispensary related processes, investigate incidents, review and write standard operating procedures and service continuity plans and undertake Health and Safety Audits and promote a health and safety culture within the dispensary environment.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Technician to be able to develop their leadership and management skills whilst helping shape our future service, during a challenging time within the NHS.
