Job Overview

  • To write and approve Permit to Work based on Risk Assessments and Method Statements
  • To review on site engineers and external contractors whilst underatking works to ensure compliance to terms of a permit
  • To enable us to operate with compliance, safely and quality in operations
  • To adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Standards of Work (SW) applicable
  • To act in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)

Main Duties

  • To co-ordinate maintenance activities in accordance with Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) system
  • Manage the interface between contractors and technicians in issuing and reviewing permit to work (PTW)
  • Support engineering resource management and works planners to enable activity to be completed safely and on schedule
  • Co-ordination, monitoring and adherence to key safety procedures including LOTO, buried services, asbestos survey, hot works
  • Completion of Level 1 inspections of SSOW operations
  • Maintain compliance through SSOW process
  • Assist in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and accident/incident investigations
  • Supervision of Contractos; including Permit to Work issue and Authorisations to Work (ATW)
  • Regular Gemba with Purpose works under control and appropriate escalation of issues

What we are looking for

  • Holds relevant professional and technical qualifications, and/or has relevant experience
  • City & Guilds Electrical qualification
  • Health & Safety expereince or qualifictions preferred
  • Can demonstrate knowledge and understanding of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality systems and the management of safe systems of work associated with the role and work environment
  • Ability to recognise and encourage safe working principles, mandating a safety first culture
  • Able to represent MITIE professionally at both internal and external level
