If you can you think on your feet and provide creative solutions to any issues faced, then come and join our Bus Station and Interchanges team.Working at one of our transport hubs at Chorley, Nelson, Accrington or Preston to cover leave and sickness including working alone providing a visible, reassuring presence to members of the public and helping them with travel queries and issues.

We are looking for someone who can provide excellent customer service, in sometimes challenging situations. Someone who is a good team player with a commitment to giving the best customer experience you can provide. You will need to work to set procedures, must be approachable, confident & helpful with a strong sense of responsibility.

This full time, permanent post involves working an average 37 hours per week, including early starts or late finishes, weekends and bank holidays, on a rota basis, for which enhancements are payable.

The role involves working as part of a wider team looking after the buildings and the people using them ensuring that our bus stations always provide safe and welcoming environments . Bing a visible point of contact; actively assisting and providing information to customers travelling through any of our stations. Dealing with different scenarios confidently and assertively. Identifying and reporting any defects with buildings or equipment and dealing with emergencies quickly and calmly.

Maintaining a high-quality environment, dealing with health and safety issues, cleaning spills etc. as required and ensuring any contractors on site work effectively in a safe manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Flexibility means and ability to travel to any of the bus station sites sometimes at short notice.
  • Engaging with members of the public, tenants, operators and other stakeholders.
  • Being the first point of contact for all visitors and users of bus stations.
  • Provide excellent customer service, working on own initiative dealing with issues to a conclusion.
  • Recording observations, information and reporting irregularities.
  • Liaise with bus operators and drivers to ensure correct and safe procedures are followed.
  • Assist management in property related matters, including health and safety aspects and some cleaning duties.
  • Assist with ensuring buildings are maintained on a regular basis and that defects are recorded and reported.
  • Respond to emergencies providing the necessary assistance to customers and emergency services.
  • To ensure that all bus station policies and procedures are followed at all times and to play a part in their development.
  • Secure premises by patrolling and monitoring surveillance equipment, inspecting the building, equipment and access points.
  • To ensure premises are opened and locked down in a safe, secure and timely manner, monitoring and setting building equipment controls and alarms.
  • Contribute to team meetings when required.
  • To partake in self-development by attending training courses as and when required.

You will be required to provide a car for use in connection with the duties of this post and must be insured for business use. However, we may consider you if you cannot drive because of a disability.
