Overview

The next few years are going to be super exciting for Screwfix and how we communicate and connect with our 13,000 colleagues about our purpose, plan and people stories. Supporting and reporting through to the Internal Communications Manager, the People Communications Assistant role will be integral in helping us deliver our people plan for learning, wellbeing and belonging.

The role will be varied, with no day the same, you could be writing a story to support our Diversity & Inclusion network, producing creative for a wellness campaign or filming colleagues sharing their learning and development story. You’ll be someone with a can-do attitude and bring passion to this new exciting role at Screwfix.

Key responsibilities

  • Work with the Internal Communications Manager and key stakeholders for the people plan to manage and deliver the content plan and calendar of activity.
  • Manage and deliver monthly people communications across Operations and Head Office for our learning, wellbeing and belonging campaigns.
  • Support the team on other key people activities such as our employee engagement survey
  • Write, edit and proof communications for a variety of channels: email, intranet, in store point of sale and internal social networks.
  • Create and design assets for activities including digital and printed assets.
  • Film and edit videos for campaigns
  • Upload assets to our digital channels: email, SharePoint and Yammer.
  • Create and act as the brand guardian for our people brand identity
  • Input into monthly communications packs
  • Work closely with the Ops Communications and Employer Brand team.

Required skills & experience

  • Previous experience in internal communications, marketing communications or design for digital and print
  • Excellent written and verbal skills with an ability to adapt to different audiences and channels.
  • Experience in artworking or design – preferably InDesign and Photoshop – with demonstrable skills – desirable
  • Creative flair with great ideas and vision.
  • Experience filming and video editing skills – desirable.
  • Experience using Microsoft SharePoint – desirable.
  • Ability to juggle a number of tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Resilient and adaptable to change.
  • Good planning and organisational skills.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Experience using Office tools (e.g. PowerPoint, excel, word etc.)
  • Approachable person.
