The Integrated Passenger Transport Operations Team is responsible for the safe and efficient use of over 80 minibuses to transport people in North Yorkshire. The team comprises approximately 300 drivers and passenger assistants that operate at locations throughout North Yorkshire. The team delivers approximately 250,000 passenger journeys per year including 20,000 wheelchair user journeys. The transport provided enables people to access schools, day centres, learning opportunities, supported employment and other meaningful activities in our community. We also undertake registered local bus services and community transport journeys.

We are looking for caring, flexible and committed people to help us provide this transport. You will be responsible for the safety of passengers during these journeys and will ensure that the passengers board and alight safely as well as ensuring that any safety equipment is used correctly. Full training in the use of all safety equipment will be provided. You will need good communication skills as you will liaise daily with the passengers, carers and establishment staff. Experience is not essential: however some experience of assisting in accessible vehicles or working in a similar role would be an advantage for this position.

We have a vacancy for an Established Passenger Assistant at 25 Hours per week on a permanent. This Vacancy is in the Skipton area. The typical 25-hour week would be 7.00am to 9:30am and 2.00pm – 4:30pm. These hours may vary to fit the needs of our customers. The hours will be worked from Monday-Friday. The role will involve split shifts. Please note that the advertised salary is the full-time equivalent rate. We offer a comprehensive training package including the Passenger Assistant Training Scheme (PATS) Basic First Aid and Managing Challenging Behaviour.

This post involves access to vulnerable service users and if you were offered the position, you will be required to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) background check. The role will require you to be flexible to fit in with Integrated Passenger Transport demand.

For further information on the role , please contact Kate Stapleton at Kate.Stapleton@northyorks.gov.uk or by telephone on 01609 798092.
