Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our dynamic and friendly Paediatric Respiratory Therapy team, based at the QMC in the Nottingham Children’s Hospital which is part of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.

This is a full-time post of 37.5 hours.

The post will be static within the paediatric respiratory team. It will include exercise provision and in-patient care for CF and acute respiratory. There will be an opportunity to support the Band 7’s in covering CF and respiratory clinics, and respiratory outpatient caseload too as required.

The successful post holder will be required to work flexibly to meet the needs of the Therapy Services, which will include rostered weekend working and Bank Holiday duties, as well as on-call duties. Necessary training will be provided.


Main duties of the job

You will need to demonstrate post graduate experience and clinical knowledge of CF and acute respiratory conditions, and have a passion for working with children.

You will be required to demonstrate the ability to work as an autonomous practitioner in the management of varied clinical caseloads, and as a member of the wider MDT to support patient outcomes.

You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to motivate paediatric patients, carers and colleagues.

You will need to demonstrate leadership and management skills to assist with the supervision of support staff, students and band 5 physiotherapists.

Although the role is predominantly based within the paediatric respiratory team, it will also require you to be flexible and adaptable to work across the wider paediatric team to cover inpatients in other specialities when support is needed to support the needs of other Paediatric services

The Nottingham Children’s Hospital (NCH) is based at the Queens Medical Centre campus and is part of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH). We provide In-patient and out-patient care for children up to the age of 19 years old.

With 97 beds, we care for around 40,000 children each year from Nottinghamshire and beyond, treating a full range of conditions, including planned and emergency treatment and surgery, Burns and Plastics, Neurological conditions, Oncology, Pediatric critical care, Renal conditions and transplantation, and Spinal and Orthopedic care.

The Children’s Therapy team at NCH is a friendly and supportive department who work closely alongside the wider MDT, providing excellent evidence based care and innovative ways of working.

Training & Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • BSc Hons (or equivalent) Physiotherapy
  • Evidence of post-graduate training in specialty
  • State registered and HCPC

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Broad based junior rotational experience with an acute in-patient respiratory focus
  • Possession of specific knowledge, technical skills and experience in orthopaedic in-patient area.
  • Experience in evaluation of practice.

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of working in respiratory out-patient and clinic settings.
