Crazy Capers Ltd has been established in Paisley since 2007 providing quality out-of-school care services for children aged between 4 and 14 years.
Out of school care manager
To be discussed. Minimum of 16 max 35 per week
Summary of Position:
To plan and implement an additional project within Crazy Capers out-of-school care services that promotes the inclusion of children with additional support needs.
To organize, motivate and lead a team of playcarers escorts, and volunteers to ensure that all team members meet or exceed their individual and team targets in providing quality out-of-school care services to children aged between 4 and 14 years.
Primary Responsibilities
Planning a project to promote inclusion of all children within the service especially those who have additional support needs.
Prepare grant applications to support the inclusion of children who have additional support needs into the service.
Administration and record-keeping including staff and children’s records, financial records, registers, activity plans, health and safety, daily logs, accident/incident reports, care plans, minutes to meetings, development plans, and quality assurance of the service.
Consulting with the parents and involving them in planning activities through holding and recording parent’s meetings regularly. Communicating effectively with parents and carers using the service enabling them to become more involved with the service as it develops
Working towards the guidelines laid down by the care inspectorate in order to ensure that the service provided is appropriate, well managed, efficient and supportive to the children in attendance.
To develop and implement effective and focused strategies in planning preparing and providing challenging and stimulating play opportunities for children in a friendly safe and secure environment.
To take responsibility for the supervision, direction and professional development of the childcare team recording regular supervision notes and appraisals for the staffing team.
Setting up the play space including moving furniture and equipment
To manage and motivate the staffing team
Ensuring that the play environment is kept clean and tidy at all times.
Undertaking appropriate and relevant training to meet the requirement of the role
Consulting with children and involving them in the running and decisions of the service.
Holding regular staff meetings with the team recording minutes of the same and reporting on action points from each meeting.
Holding regular children’s meetings recording minutes of same and reporting on action points identified.
Developing and maintaining good communication with all members of the service, with schools, and especially with parents and carers.
Liaising with outside agencies and parents within the new project.
Monitoring and maintaining a healthy, safe, and secure working environment
Ensuring that essential information is gathered from parents and given to them at appropriate times.
Planning preparing and providing quality play opportunities within a safe and caring environment.
Maintaining children’s care plans, identifying their needs strengths, and abilities. Updating care plans regularly and sharing these with the staffing team and parents where appropriate.
Working within the framework of Crazy Capers policies and procedures, National care standards, SSSC code of conduct, and the EYFS.
Encouraging parental involvement and participation within the service.
Administering first aid as and when required. Keeping records of all accidents and assessing these at the end of each month.
To provide snacks for the children ensuring that hygiene, health, and safety standards are met.
Promoting quality assurance within the service and making detailed records to evidence same.
Provide relevant staff training.
Following the national care standards for child daycare services.
Following the policies and principles of Child at the center.
Working towards the guidelines laid down by the care inspectorate in order to ensure that the service provided is appropriate, well managed, efficient, and supportive to the children in attendance.
Administering and recording first aid when required.
Administering and recording medication when required
Qualifications & Training
Educated to minimum of SVQ level 4 in childcare and management
Appropriate child protection training
Food hygiene training
Current first-aid certificate
PDA 9 childhood practice
BA childhood practice.
Experience
At least three years relevant work experience in a childcare environment working with 4 to 14-year-olds.
Experience in working with children who have additional support needs.
Experience of working in a supervisory or management capacity in a child care setting.
Experience in administration.
Experience in running holiday playschemes.
Experience in managing an out-of-school care facility.
Experience in planning projects within agreed budgets.
Experience in applying for grant and funding applications.
Experience in supervising and providing individual appraisals to the staffing team.
Experience in delivering staff training.
Qualities and Attitude
