We are proud to be playing a critical role in the net zero transition, as we aim to more than treble the net capacity in operation to 13GW and grow renewable energy output five-fold to over 50TWh over the next 10 years.About The RoleBase Location: Flexible Scotland, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key UK or Ireland sites, which includes but is not limited to:- Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness.Salary: £Competitive depending in skills and experience + car / allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options availableReporting to the Director of Development and Construction for UK&I, you’ll be accountable for leading the successful development of onshore wind and new hydro projects, including upwards of 1GW of pipeline projects, in line with SSER’s Net Zero Acceleration Plan (NZAP). You’ll support the teams responsible for developing solar, battery and PtX opportunities, including obtaining all necessary consents, the assessment of technical options and ensuring we are best positioned to secure a route to market, allowing projects to progress towards Financial Close and beyond.Some of your other main accountabilities will include;- Managing, leading and supporting a team of Portfolio Project Managers, and fostering a team culture where colleagues are supported, and lessons learned are shared to promote best practice.
- Owning the delivery of Business Cases and budgets through the development phase of projects, ensuring the right decisions are being made to balance commercial value against development and programme risk, ensuring they are reflected at Financial Close.
- Supporting the Head of Construction for UK&I with the effective handover of projects at the required stages.
- Driving continuous improvement, digitisation, and lean processes where possible to strive for greater efficiency in the development phase of projects.
- Demonstrating safety leadership and promoting a positive safety culture, ensuring that our core principle of ‘if it’s not safe, we don’t do it’ is adhered to throughout the development phase.
- Extensive experience operating in a similar role, delivering multiple large Power Generation projects from site origination, through development and during handover to construction.
- A background encompassing budget, programme, risk, governance and quality management of large £multi-million capital projects.
- A solid understanding of planning, consenting, and the selection processes involved with securing development sites.
- Knowledge of utilising value engineering and financial analysis when developing business cases and funding solutions.
- Proven ability in successfully managing and leading large multi-disciplinary project teams.
