Nottingham University Hospitals is seeking a helpful, enthusiastic and motivated individual to join a busy multimedia department within Trent Simulation and Clinical Skills Centre.

Joining a thriving team of 3 multimedia simulation technicians, you will be providing technical support to a range of trust departments including including Trent Simulation and Clincial Skills Centre, Undergraduate Medical Education and Allied Health Professionals.

You will have previous experience of working within one or more technical fields – clinical skills – either in a clinical role or a technical role /audiovisual film making/social media/virtual reality /advanced clinical simulation – and be willing to learn new skills and competencies in the other technical areas

Main duties of the job

This is a varied post which requires the post holder to manage a number of
projects with conflicting priorities and includes setting up, cleaning and maintaining teaching spaces and equipment, providing hands on technical support to a range of low- high simulation activities within the centre and education and clinical departments, providing hands on support and development of e-learning resources, use of virtual reality education tools and general multimedia support.

We are looking for an experienced technician to join our team, someone with excellent communication skills who is able to work directly with our clients, teaching faculty and students to ensure delivery of high quality learning.

You will have a degree level qualification in a multimedia or technical related subject or equivalent experience in technical/multimedia field and experience in a technical environment ideally within a simulation/ clinical skills/ education centre.

You will be a problem solver with the ability to adapt and find solutions often at short notice, who can work autonomously as well as within a multi-professional team. You will be confident in the use of Microsoft Office and ideally have experience in using social media platforms and using and maintaining a range of audio visual equipment.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will work under the supervision of the Lead Technician and be responsible for: Directly support course activities as they take place through operational hands on delivery of the technical elements of courses, including the use of clinical and audio visual equipment. This includes within the centre, in situ at NUH and at external locations.

Operate and provide first line technical support for all simulation based equipment including high fidelity manikins and clinical skills equipment. Hardware / maintenance and fault finding of equipment including troubleshooting during programme/education activities.

Provide technical support and advice to course leads re: the design and delivery of education

The design, creation and delivery of a wide range of multimedia work for centre and centre’s clients including photography, video, live links, e-learning, podcasts, Social media – Twitter, Facebook, YouTube etc

Setting up and supporting a range of virtual reality technologies for use in a
training/education envirornment
