What we are looking for

Mitie is recruiting for an Electrical AP to support the Technical Services Manager on a broadcast and office facility near Evesham. The focus will be on ensuring the electrical services within the building are maintained, repaired, upgraded and inspected as necessary in order to maintain business continuity, improve energy efficiency and comply with statutory and contract requirements. The site has a highly resilient installation and no interruption to broadcast or business activities can be allowed.

The role will involve scheduling planned preventative maintenance tasks with subcontractors, overseeing their work and maintaining records of their visits. In addition, you will also be required to carry out hands on planned preventative maintenance tasks on the electrical services. You will need to react to any mechanical, electrical issues or other incidents that arise during your shift and address any issues within the timescales set out in the SLA’s.

The site is operational 24 hours a day/7 days a week so you will be required to work a shift pattern to cover these hours.

If not already qualified, you will undertake an LV AP training programme to enable you to become LV authorised and manage the LV safe systems of work.

Can you ensure the electrical & mechanical system is reliable, fit for purpose and efficient?

Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance on the M&E engineering services as required by PPM schedules & highlight any defects to the Technical Services Manager
  • Review maintenance tasks on an ongoing basis and identify tasks that can be self-delivered
  • Communicate and liaise with subcontractors and plan, supervise and monitor subcontractors PPM tasks
  • Manage the safe systems of work and permit system to ensure a safe working environment. Review subcontractors RAMS to ensure completeness. Manage, advise and encourage subcontractors to achieve high standards of H&S
  • Plan tasks and manage time to ensure business continuity is not affected
  • Plan and carry out switching requirements on the LV network.
  • Keep maintenance records up to date and ensure they are completed
  • Ensure compliance with the contract and statutory requirements
  • Carry out instructions as required on the electrical works as identified by the client or Mitie
  • Proactively pursue and respond to any issues which arise during your shift and ensure they are resolved in line with the contractual SLA’s
  • Where you identify faults or failures, raise the task with the technical services manager and develop a resolution in a timely manner
  • Identify any major replacement or shutdown works well in advance. Develop a plan for these works for approval by the TSM and the client.
  • Daily monitoring of all main plant & equipment within the building to ensure designed resilience and operation are maintained
  • Manage the health and safety of anyone working on site under the Mitie contract.
  • Keep plant records up to date and check training records of all users for plant and equipment

Knowledge Skills & Experience

Essential

  • 18th Edition qualified.
  • Test and Inspect 2391 preferred (Initial verification & Periodic Inspection)
  • SSSTS or IOSH Working Safely
  • Excellent people management and communication skills
  • Demonstrable experience of a range of electrical services – fire systems, power, lighting and lighting controls, emergency lighting, access control.
  • Holds relevant professional, technical and management qualifications and experience
  • Can demonstrate knowledge and understanding of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality systems and the management of safe systems of work associated with the role and work environment. Minimum of IOSH Managing Safely (Experience considered).
  • Seek out and take opportunities to learn new skills, specialist knowledge and latest business and engineering practice as part of personal professional development.
  • Lead by example in all role activities.
  • Willingness to work in a HV environment
  • Work as part of a team and assist others where necessary.
