Job Purpose:

We are seeking an individual to become a key member of the maintenance team responsible for delivering planned and reactive maintenance to a wide variety of fabric and limited engineering assets across a number of sites.

To carry out both Planned and Reactive maintenance to both plant and building equipment across several the Client’s sites. Understands, encourages, and carries out the principles of Health & Safety and takes personal responsibility for safety. Works harmoniously with others to get a job done and responds positively to instructions and procedures.

As part of a central support team the engineer may also be asked to visit and support surrounding sites from time to time as required.

The role comes with a company van and laptop allowing the suitable candidate to be pro-active in looking after the sites and assets they are responsible to maintain.

Standard working hours is Monday to Friday 08:00-17:00 but can be flexible factoring traffic but will require mutual agreement.

Responsibilities:

As a fabric engineer your duties and responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Inspect, maintain, and repair Fire doors.
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair floor, walls, ceilings, and roofs.
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair freestanding and fitted furniture.
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair drainage and gully systems.
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair doors windows and associated furniture.
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair fire stopping.
  • Painting, re-decorating and hanging of pictures/signed/notices.
  • Repairing and replacing door handles, locks and associated equipment.
  • Assist engineering staff in a wide range of duties as required.
  • Carry out Ad-Hoc activities supporting the Company and Client team including Moves/Changes
  • Meticulously utilizing PDA device to manage task assignments and make reports

Knowledge skills and experience:

  • A Fabric Engineer qualified in the following disciplines: Carpentry.
  • It’s essential that the engineer has sufficient knowledge and experience in fire door inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
  • FDIS Certified Fire Door Inspector training.
  • Experience in Painting and Decorating.
  • Demonstrable basic knowledge and experience in plumbing or flooring in a construction, repair or maintenance environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good knowledge of fire compartmentation maintenance and inspection techniques.

This role will require the individual to conduct several repetitive planned preventative maintenance tasks, utilize a PDA to manage and report the status jobs and undergo training as required. This job description is not exhaustive, and the successful candidate will be expected to comply with other reasonable requests from their line management.

If required, then you may be asked to participate in an out of hours stand by rota (OOH) to provide emergency cover.
