Dorset Healthcare is responsible for the provision of Memory Assessment Services (MAS) across the county and nationally it has been recognised that Dementia is an area of health significance with an ever-increasing ageing population. We are proud to say the Trust has, in conjunction with our local Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), recently completed a very comprehensive review of all the dementia services in Dorset. As a result we have secured additional funding to redevelop and expand the MAS diagnostic and treatment services that we provide.

We believe this is an exciting time to join MASas we are now implementing the new model for Dementia services across Dorset including the recruitment for some new posts. One such position is anAdvanced Clinical Practitioner to join the clinical team assisting with complex assessments, diagnosing and prescribing. We would be open to negotiating with an appropriately skilled non-medical prescriber who has a passion for this field and relevant experience who wishes to train towards the full position over a specified time-frame within a competency framework.

If you are passionate about Dementiaand want to join our supportive multi-disciplinary team, you will be joining caring, enthusiastic, skilled and dedicated staff. We regularly achieve over 96% positive feedback in the Patient Experience Surveys and we are proud to look for ways to be innovative in our practice. We regularly participate in research studies and we are working towards accreditation on the Memory Services National Accreditation Programme developed by The Royal College of Psychiatrists.

The MAS West teams work across several different bases and practitioners cover geographical areas of Weymouth and Portland, Bridport, Dorchester, Shaftesbury, Blandford and Sherborne. Home visits and clinics take place across the whole of the county and working from home is also an essential aspect of the role. This is a permanent post and the service core hours are Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:00.
