Technician, Mechanical R&D

We’re looking for an experienced Mechanical Technician to join our fantastic team in Weymouth, Dorset on the UK’s beautiful South Coast.

As a Mechanical Technician, you will be responsible for supporting Hardware R&D, with the Manufacturing, Building and Testing of machine elements within any ASM AS R&D as well as:

  • contribute to the build of initial prototypes with minimal outside assistance
  • manage materials related to functional sample build and provide stock control; co-ordinate provision of tools and jigs to enable machine build
  • oversee and contribute to the manufacture/modification of components to technical requirement/specifications
  • support the running of machines and test equipment and undertake calibration, and software test
  • commission of test rigs and test components
  • define and support the formal collection and reporting of test data and results
  • make recommendations for improvement to designs

You’ll need:

· able to interpret 3D Cad model and build Sub-Assemblies, able to read and understand an engineering drawing

  • understanding of the functional interdependencies of mechanical, electromechanical, and mechatronic systems
  • knowledge of PCB printing equipment / SMT production process
  • a working knowledge of SAP
