Equans is looking for a Market Operative to join our team in Grimsby DN31 on a permanent basis. This is a full time/part-time role working 37 hours per week. On offer is a salary of £22,672 and benefits package.

General Overview

Equans have identified a great opportunity to introduce a Market operative to their property services team. Equans are looking to employ a confident and motivated professional to work at the North East Lincolnshire Contract who is looking for career and personal development opportunities. The successful candidate will be responsible to the Property services manager and assist with operational delivery of the market in Grimsby Town Centre, Farmers markets and Cleethorpes Markets.

Overall Duties

• To patrol the market hall, foodhall premises and immediate surrounding areas on a regular basis and record findings
• Assist with the management of unauthorised individuals who enter the market.
• Operate a Digital radio and communicate with other Market operatives
• Report and record all defects, near misses and incidents in the correct manner
• Record footfall counters
• Responsible for the collection of the post and distribution
• Assist in all emergencies with regards to the building and person(s) including first aid and fire evacuation procedures
• To assist in the efficient and effective day to day operation of the Markets Department when needed
• To work face to face with service users and assist with any issues that may arise
• Assist with the management of health and safety and risk management in the operation of the service including directing service users on the procedures in their licence
• Assist with the management of contractors who visit the site to carry out maintenance and repairs and ensure works are carried out to completion
• Assists in the formulation and implementation of solutions to practical problems.
• Arrange and undertake the opening/closure of the market premises when required. This includes being a key holder and lone working
• Assist with the general housekeeping/cleaning of the market
• Assist with the security of vacant units including cleanliness and minor repairs.
• Assist with the erection/dismantling of mobile market stalls and able to drive a 3.5 tonne van
• Assist with the operation of the external markets/events
• To provide assistance to the Management team in the development and promotion of the markets in accordance with the policies, aims and objectives of EQUANS and the client
• Operate within the policies, systems and business plans of Property Management and the EQUANS.
• To delivery all works with compliance to EQUANS Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality (SHEQ) standards and policies in line with ISO 18001 (Health & Safety), 14001 (Environmental) & ISO 9001 (Quality).
• Undertake such other duties as may be reasonably expected at this level.

Required Experience & Qualifications

Essential:

• Effective communication and motivational skills
• Experience of face-to-face contact with customers delivering a service
• The ability to work unsupervised and demonstrate initiative is essential
• Ability to erect/dismantle mobile market stalls
• Driving licence and the ability to travel between sites
• Able to work market days including opening/closure of the market premises when required and flexible to cover holidays and extra trading days.

• Knowledge & understanding of the required compliance with health and safety requirements
