Summary

About the job

Housing is one of the defining issues of our time and the affordability pressures we are experiencing today have been decades in the making. Put simply, we have not built enough homes and this has led to a generation of people being unable to get onto the housing ladder.

Homes England, the national housing agency, plays a central role in tackling the housing challenges the country now faces. We are the Government’s housing accelerator. Our mission is to intervene in the market to ensure more homes are built in areas of greatest need – as a means to improve affordability and create a sustainable housing market.

At the centre of the agency is the Market Engagement team, which is part of the wider Strategy, Markets and Research Unit. As Market Engagement Manager, you will be joining this high performing team of six people to build strategic and coordinated relationships with our partners across Homes England.

Job Description

You will include working closely alongside our Research, Economics and Analysis team to gather and interpret market intelligence that informs the decision-making of senior leaders. To do this, you will work with the systems and tools that Homes England already has in place and you will engage directly with external partners and stakeholders, including trade bodies, to gather and analyse market intelligence.

You will use this insight to produce high quality briefings, analysis, and presentations on key findings. You will work with colleagues across Homes England to ensure that your analysis answers the strategic and business development needs of Homes England colleagues and supports evidence-led decision making.

The Market Engagement team also develop and deliver bespoke engagement strategies for key partners and sector cohorts, including a Key Account Manager programme. You will support effective running of these strategies and support colleagues to ensure that these drive business development at both a national and regional level. You will identify new and innovative approaches to working with Homes England partners to ensure strategic and coordinated relationships that deliver new opportunities for market intervention.

You will also build long term strategic relationships with key trade bodies, think tanks and other opinion formers in the housing sector and will work alongside Communications team to design stakeholder events that make best use of thought-leadership and innovation within the housing sector.

Our work depends upon collaboration with colleagues across Homes England and you will work proactively and in multi-functional teams to deliver results.

The Market Engagement team is ambitious and continually seeking to improve. You will be able to spot areas for improvement, both in how we gather market intelligence and how we work with our partners.

ResponsibilitiesWe are looking for a creative and strategic thinker, who can work at pace and build strong relationships to deliver results collaboratively. You will be someone who understands how to influence partners and stakeholders and can build strong and effective internal and external relationships with senior colleagues.

The key skills and knowledge we’re looking for include:
  • Degree level or equivalent academic qualifications are required, with the ability to bring strong intellectual rigour to the role.
  • Experience of working at a senior strategic level within a relevant sector, and experience of working with government organisations.
  • Desirable – Ability to build and use PowerBI software
  • Desirable - Knowledge of the built environment or a relevant professional qualification such as RICS, RTPI, LI, RIBA, CIH.
