The Job Responsibilities
Purpose of Function
Give Mechanical, Electrical and Technical support to the FFP Manufacturing site in terms of preventative, reactive/breakdown maintenance, support of new installations and improvements to increase reliability and reduce running costs. Across the site there are a range of manufacturing equipment, encompassing automation cells in order to manufacture and assemble personal protection equipment (masks).
The role in addition to the above will specifically target maintenance / improvements on automated equipment to increase uptime, reliability and Volume. the skill set needed to complete this is knowledge of automated equiment – Mechanical, PLC (Siemens), Electrical, control and instrumentation.
This position also includes being on the call out rota which covers the Manufacturing departments 7 days per week.
The function reports into the Production Supervisor and recieves daily priorities from the afore mentioned.
Tasks and Responsibilities
1. All employees have a responsibility to comply with the Integrated Management System (IMS) and minimise any impact on the environment whilst carrying out their duties
2. Ensure all work is carried out to H&S standards – Lock out tag out, Permit controlled work for Contractors and Draeger personnel, all equipment requiring LOLER inspections are coordinated to ensure all lifting and slinging equipment is always within inspection date
3. Perform planned Maintenance activities and maintain high level of compliance >90% – coordinate with Production Supervisor for equipment access
4. Control machine spares for area of responsibility – sourcing, ordering and organizing for repetitive high volume consumable parts and other critical spares which can be controlled with this method
5. Maintain records of Maintenance work – In-house breakdowns, corrective work and external contracted work from OEM suppliers and specialists – utilize the appropriate data recording system to ensure records and history is updated frequently and following the work
6. Work with Production to ensure TPM checks are completed by the operators and any Maintenance corrective actions are followed up and completed within 48hrs
7. Undertake unplanned maintenance activities liaising with production and looking for root causes and countermeasure to prevent reoccurrence
8. Provide out of hours maintenance support for all areas working shifts
9. Undertake Project work which will involve machine moves, installations, upgrades and improvements etc Involvement in setting up spares system for new and existing equipment, preventative maintenance records and TPM checks for Operators
10. Liaise with external suppliers and specialists to fault find and support Machine reliability
11. Utilize root cause analysis and complete breakdown reports to find root cause and implement countermeasures to prevent reoccurrence
12. Identify and implement Projects to increase productivity, reliability and uptime of automated equipment within manufacturing
13. Take responsibility for 6S and housekeeping in own workshop and other areas used – 6S target >85%
14. Assist with training and guidance of apprentices, operators and other members of staff as required
15. Attend meetings to provide technical support on breakdowns or work arounds when equipment has failed – dates for when countermeasure will be put in place and improved Maintenance techniques
16. Participate in training and development opportunities to keep knowledge abreast with technology
17. Occasional offsite travel to visit machine builders, training or equipment inspections
Your Qualifications
Time served
Minimum HNC in Mechanical or Electrical
Multi skilled Technician – Mech/Elec/ PLC
H&S qualification - IOSH (preferred)
PLC certification (Siemens desirable)
Proven knowledge of PLC fault finding, modifications and upgrades
Proven knowledge of control systems
Experience in a high quality focused environment (Essential)
Experience of fault finding bespoke equipment - Mech & Elec (Essential)
Siemens PLC Trained (Desired)
H&S – IOSH, NEBOSH etc
17th Edition (Electrical certification)
Permit to work knowledge & understanding
