The Job Responsibilities

Purpose of Function

Draeger is a world leader in the manufacture of a broad range of life saving and protection equipment, this position is specifically related to SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus) and escape breathing equipment.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • All employees have a responsibility to comply with the Integrated Management System (IMS) and minimise any impact on the environment whilst carrying out their duties.
  • Support and/or lead small to medium sized product modification projects from concept through to design and production release.
  • Identify and implement product design solutions to solve current product issues in manufacturing, material supply and at the customer.
  • Assist with cost reduction projects that require R&D input.
  • Provide R&D support including proto type development on customer specific tenders.

Your Qualifications

  • Degree qualified or equivalent in mechanical engineering or mechanical design
  • Design function in medium to high volume electro/mechanical is essential

- Experience in designing pneumatic fixtures & fittings - essential

- Demonstrated proficiency with Pro Engineer - desirable

- Experience in designing stamped, turned and cast metal part- Experience in designing plastic injection molded parts - desirable

  • Excellent problem solving skills, self-motivation and team orientation
  • Demonstrated track record of consistently delivering goals on time
  • Experience of Six sigma and DFMA would be advantageous
  • Experience in designing to EN and international standards
  • Experience of working within the PPE safety industry (desirable)
