What You’ll Be Doing

This is a busy, active role and will require you to be able to carry out duties associated with maintenance work, including manual handling tasks, e.g. moving and operating equipment and tools.

You will be responsible for overall maintenance and improvements of the learning location buildings and grounds. As well as being responsible for carrying out routine Health and Safety monitoring, checks and record keeping.

All internal and external repairs to fabric and fittings will need to be carried out in a timely fashion. This could include repairs relating to carpentry, window glazing, plumbing and electrical works and may mean you need to liaise with outside contractors where appropriate.

Where you’ll be based

Field Studies Council Nettlecombe Court lies in a secluded valley at the eastern edge of Exmoor National Park. The grounds are made up of heritage parkland, ancient woodland containing many veteran oak trees as well as a Site of Special Scientific Interest because of its lichen communities.

Just 30 minutes from Taunton, Nettlecombe Court has excellent access to the Somerset coast as well as Exmoor National Park and The Quantocks Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The centre can accommodate approximately 120 people. This is spread across two single bedrooms, three twin rooms and 18 dormitory rooms which vary in size from 4-12 beds.

Who We’re Looking For

We need someone with experience in both interior and exterior maintenance work. You will take pride in delivering quality workmanship and have an awareness and understanding of relevant Health and Safety issues that comes with this type of work. In addition, you will need:
