Maintenance Manager – Bakkavor Desserts Leicester

Salary £50,000-£55,000 plus benefits package including up to 10% Bonus, Private Healthcare, pension scheme

The Company;

Situated in a state-of-the-art facility in Leicester, Bakkavor Desserts Leicester (previously Blueberry Foods), manufacture over 70 different desserts on site from cheesecakes and meringues right through to hot dessert products. The site has been in place since 2008 with 2 recent extensions in 2014 and 2018 to increase capability and product diversity.

The Role;

We have a fantastic opening for an Maintenance Manager to join our expanding team and site and to manage daily the Engineering shift and Engineering Team within Bakkavor Desserts Leicester.

The Maintenance Manager will; provide support to the business as required and ensure efficient use of all available resources, provide a point of contact for other departments and assume some of the Engineering Managers duties during their absence and assist other departmental teams in achieving their goals.

Duties and Accountabilities;

  • Comply with Bakkavor Desserts, Leicester, SHE and all statutory Safety, Health and Environment requirements.
  • Ensure accurate and timely records are kept of all engineering work carried out on shift, root cause of failures are identified and measures are taken to prevent a re-occurrence
  • Ensure engineering downtime is minimised, accurately logged using the computerised maintenance system, monitor repair times.
  • Ensure operating and maintenance manuals, diagnostic instructions and special tools are readily available for the shift.
  • Provide engineering support to production to ensure efficient performance of all equipment. Liaise with Production management team to resolve problems quickly and improve performance.
  • Manage contractors and suppliers, audit their work, and ensure work permits are issued and that all work is carried out with no risk to the business. Liaise with suppliers and the Engineering Section Managers to ensure adequate spares and information are made available.
  • Manage, plan, prioritise and audit engineering activities daily and ensure accurate records are maintained for the end of each shift.
  • Provide hands on support to the engineering team and lead by example.

Experience, Skills and Qualifications

  • Recognised engineering qualification.
  • Confident supervisory skills. Ability to make decisions, and work under pressure.
  • Good understanding of Health and Safety requirements.
  • Good communication skills at all levels.
  • Competent fault finding and analysis skills.
  • Proven experience within engineering, experience within chilled food manufacturing is desirable.
