How you’ll make a difference

You will be working on a spectrum of projectsand prestigious schemes which give you variety and new challenges in your jobrole, designing, commissioning,constructing, maintaining and asset management of traffic signals around South Gloucestershire

What will you be doing

  • You will be carrying out periodic visual inspections of traffic signals at SGC sites in accordance with the routine maintenance schedule, accurately recording the asset and repairing any faults as appropriate.
  • In the role you will attend, diagnose, and repair basic traffic signal faults to ensure our sites are operational, ensuring quality of repairs and work within safe working practices, carrying out dynamic risk assessments managing working sites to ensure site safety.
  • Contribution to site upgrade or new installation decisions making judgements on the best action for design and specification.
  • It will be your responsibility to ensure compliance with legislation and comply with guidance Safety at Streetworks and Road Works code of practice and risk assessing and then setting out sites on the live highway in line with national guidance ensuring that all workforce and public are safe.
  • You will provide feedback for design and client functions, including specification, site trials, asset database, storage, new installations, and rechargeable works and communicate recommendations for kit, reduced function specifications for design and feedback for continuous improvement.
  • You must be proactive in managing financial implications of all relevant tasks and at all times consider the cost effectiveness of repair or replacement and recharge works projects schemes when working for developer, to generate an income from time spent.

What we need from you

  • You must hold a relevant qualification e.g. minimum of NVQ 3 or equivalent qualification, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • It is essential that you have a working knowledge and experience of electrical installation and maintenance of electrical units in traffic signals and have traffic signal experience.
  • We require you to have knowledge of relevant legislation and experience of safe working practices including H&S legislation as it relates to the operational tasks associated highway electrical installations and the role.
  • You will demonstrate confident, practical knowledge of traffic signal maintenance best practice, techniques and working methods.
  • It is key that you have an ability to identify problems and recommend workable and cost-effective solutions within time and resource constraints.
  • You must be confident to complete documentation, answer technical queries and provide technical support to others sometimes working autonomously
  • Proven experience of working as part of team is essential and expericne of meeting service standards, targets and deadlines.
