Shipping Specialist

Job Overview

Ecolab have a requirement for a Shipping Specialist to join our team at our plant in Weavergate. The Shipping Specialist will be responsible for providing the On-time in Full (OTIF) distribution, transportation, and logistical solutions on inbound or outbound movement of materials or finished products from origin to destination as required.

Key Responsibilities

Major Tasks:
Transport & Logistic Function
Building and maintaining relationships with 3rd party logistic providers. This includes reporting on performance KPI’s, intervention in case of issues etc.
Identify opportunities / problems in transportation area and perform regular analysis and reporting.
Ensure carrier compliance within Ecolab Safety requirements.
Regularly and effectively communicate with forwarding agents, customs brokers, and Business Managers on logistics issues.


Support and Coordinate:
Execute against freight strategy, resolve complex issues in a resourceful and effective way and provide recommendations to support, improved or cost-beneficial freight movements.

Daily Focus:
You must be safety conscious and always comply with the companies zero tolerance safety culture.
Completing the process of picking and the booking of Customer orders on SAP and daily shuttles to our external warehouse.
Effectively liaise with appropriate external haulage providers arranging daily transport requirements.
Ability to solve day-to-day problems by making decisions and escalating to superiors on how best to manage carrier and customer relationships to optimize risks, costs, time, etc.
Handle carrier service issues/incidents and resolve routine conflicts between customer’s requirements and demand issues through interaction with the external Customer Service team, Demand Planner & Logistics Service Manager.


Data Management & Reporting:
Ensure that accurate documentation is produced relating to each delivery.
Review carrier performance and provide information to the Logistics Service Manager & The European Transportation Group relating to any unsatisfactory results and detrition in the service provided.
Perform data entry updates using spreadsheets and databases based on order inbound & outbound delivery functions.

Qualifications
Minimum Diploma or equivalent (Ideally awarded through CILT).
Good working Knowledge of ERP Systems (SAP experience would be beneficial).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
3+ years’ experience in transportation & logistics area with an understanding of Import/Export procedures.
Experience with 3rd Party partners.
Computer literacy.
Broad and accurate knowledge of transportation & logistic functions and carriers.
Good understanding of the supply chain process.
Decision making and communications / Problem solving skills.
Excellent negotiation / presentation skills.
Ability to positively respond to change or create change.
Team oriented mindset.
Heavily support local Supply Chain Management in the defined region.
