Who We Are
IDS is a leading in-vitro diagnostic solution provider to the clinical laboratory market. We develop, manufacture and market innovative immunoassays and automated immunoanalyser technologies to provide improved diagnostic outcomes for patients.
IDS Boldon is the global IDS Headquarters occupying a single, multi-disciplined site.
The site focuses on the manufacture and distribution of manual Immunoassay products. On site Purchasing, Logistics, Production, Quality Control and Process Development departments manage the supply chain, supported by local Sales Support, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs and Finance departments. As Group Headquarters, IDS Boldon also houses all head office functions.
Job Purpose
To provide legal advice to the Company and wider Group in order to minimise business risks and implications, whilst supporting business units with contractual matters.
Principal Accountabilities
• Provide legal advice to UK Group Companies with ad-hoc support to foreign subsidiaries
• Manage legal processes, i.e execution of Company documents and contracts
• Manage and instruct external advisors on litigations and transactions
• Assist the business to analyse, identify and minimise legal risks and implications
• Manage subsidiary company secretarial matters
• Draft, review, negotiate and administer legal and transactional documentations.
• Liaise with external legal counsel and/or specialists as necessary
• Keep management abreast of all new laws and regulations that may have implications for the Company.
• Manage legal costs within budget.
• Manage contracts database to ensure deadlines/obligations are fully met.
• Manage trade marks and patent registers and IP in general.
• Manage ad-hoc relevant assignments eg training seminars
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Qualifications
• Qualified solicitor in England and Wales
Skills & Knowledge
• Excellent problem solving, analytical and organisational skills.
• Self-driven and resourceful.
• Sound interpersonal and communication skills.
• Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Ability to provide pragmatic solutions ensuring risks are balanced.
Experience
• Experience with exposure to commercial/contract law issues.
• 3 years of post qualified experience gained in private practice or in-house
• Experience with exposure to commercial contract/law issues
• Experience in regulatory matters
• Experience in dealing with IP matters, licensing, corporation agreements in the life science sector would be advantageous
