ScottishPower
Land Officer
From £36,648 per annum
Permanent contract.

Here at ScottishPower, we’re working towards a cleaner future. In fact, we’re the first integrated energy company to generate 100% green electricity. And as part of the Iberdrola Group, we’re driving positive change by investing £7m into every working day.

As a Land Officer, within our SP Energy Networks business, you’ll provide land rights services for electrical network projects, where you will be responsible for obtaining the land rights associated with the distribution network in order to secure the necessary and appropriate landowner permissions and statutory consents required for the delivery of infrastructure capital projects, ensuring timely delivery of projects and the security and safety of the existing assets.

In this vital role, you’ll engage and negotiate with landowners affected by distribution activities and resolve any issues to the satisfaction of both parties, liaise where required with developers, IDNOs/ICPs on matters relating to obtaining land rights for customer connections and prepare appropriate information necessary for legal instruction in a timely and appropriate manner to secure permanent land rights, providing support to both internal and external legal teams during the process.

Day to day you’ll proactively manage a number of individual projects with the aim of resolving problems in the land rights process which may be preventing delivery of capital programmes or be detrimental to the safety or security of the existing network and provide specialist advice to the project manager in relation to the selection of the appropriate land rights being sought to ensure capital programmes can be maintained and delivered.

All of this means that you’ll be responsible for creating and updating land rights records, on both hard copy files, the Land GIS and the SAP Real Estate System and where required undertake site visits during the construction works and support the delivery team in maintaining access to the land during construction.

To join, you’ll have expert knowledge and practical experience of relevant land ownership processes such as valuations and compensation code with knowledge of related property law, combined with an understanding of the planning system to reduce project delivery risk and financial exposure. Brining knowledge and practical experience in landowner relations, with expert negotiation skills in project delivery in both a rural agricultural and urban context.

Our Land and Planning Team is a specialist function that plays a crucial role in the delivery of high value capital projects. Whether it’s connections to domestic premises, EV charging or renewables generation, our role in obtaining the land agreements is vital to allow us to install or upgrade our assets. As we work towards Net Zero, we’re working hard to upgrade our ageing network to deliver smarter and cleaner technology for our customers, communities and stakeholders, and without these land rights it won’t be possible.
