Your Day To Day

Adherence to COSHH and Risk Assessment guidelines
Working to ISO 17025:2005
Sample management and preparation
Operate, maintain and troubleshoot laboratory instruments
Set up and calibrate instruments
General laboratory housekeeping duties including safe storage of chemicals
Liaise with plant managers, planners, suppliers of laboratory equipment and chemicals
Prepare materials, equipment and resources for laboratory analyses

Required To Be Successful In The Role

A degree in Chemistry or closely related area or equivalent proven experience gained in an accredited or similarly regulated laboratory
1-2 years of experience
Experience in using Microsoft Excel to plot and calculate results
Proven skills of good health and safety best practice within a laboratory environment, including chemical handling and storage
Ability to manage stock levels
Familiarity with COSHH and Risk Assessment processes and the ability to understand and follow safe working procedures
Experience in operating laboratory instruments
Carries out routine tasks reproducibly, paying attention to detail
ability to produce well regarded, high quality and reproducible data
Experience of working in a laboratory accredited to ISO 17025:2005 will be beneficial
