Sourcing Lead

Manage Supply Management strategies for new product programs, initiatives and strategic materials. Apply advanced knowledge of procurement and material management principles and techniques to award and administer component and service contracts involving complex administrative and technical requirements. Lead internal teams focusing on storeroom inventory optimization and cost reductions as appropriate.

Day To Day

• Solicit quotations and analyze contract proposals while leading formulation of strategy and negotiation of pricing, delivery, terms and conditions to satisfy requirements for highly complex and specialized materials, equipment, components and services.
• Plan, develop and implement global procurement and purchase resale strategies to maximize sales, billing and margins while minimizing risk.
• Develop, implement, communicate and monitor measures and benchmarks for managing inventory levels, inventory use and sourcing / materials processes to improve supply base performance. Lead quality improvement initiatives where appropriate.
• Analyze and evaluate all elements of cost for commodity groups to identify and obtain cost improvements. Develop strategies and tactics to maximize supplier base cost/value.
• Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and customers while mediating and resolving contract performance issues.
• Analyze inventory usage and establish plans to reduce obsolesces.
• Lead identification, development and implementation of best practice techniques, including emerging technologies and concepts.
• Align sourcing strategies with Company strategies and objectives.
• Monitor, control and reduce sourcing / materials budget costs. Control project budget for purchased goods and services.
• Provide internal leadership, training and day-to-day direction of peers and subordinates.
• Maintain extensive external global contacts with key suppliers, licensees, partners and industry sources.
• Procure materials and supplies in concert with overall business strategies for efficient inventory management.
• Oversee resolution of disputes, deficiencies and warranty claims to assure permanent corrective action.
• Understand and manage entire supply chain including primary and sub-tier suppliers for assigned commodity groups.
  

What You Need To Be Successful In The Role

• Comprehensive knowledge of advanced principles, concepts and practices in following areas: inventory management, procurement, computer-based inventory systems and manufacturing operations. Capability to conduct complex multi‑million pounds sterling contract negotiations of significant technical complexity.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business Administration or Supply Management.
• Minimum 0-1, typically 1- 2 years professional experience.
• Familiarity with Government procurement regulations may be required for some positions.
• Desirable to have Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) certification from Institute of Supply Management (ISM).
• Influence direct internal associates and peers toward common objectives.
• Create and implement complex and innovative strategies in support of new product design. Original thinking, planning and organizational skills are used to develop creative solutions and assist lower graded personnel.
• Resolve demand for available inventory versus need to reduce costs.
• Find solutions to inventory shortages and late shipments during periods of peak demands.
• Negotiate with suppliers in global markets to develop solutions that satisfy needs and provide competitive advantage.
