The Role

This is a great opportunity to kick start a career in fibre network design. Working with the Fibre Network Architect, you will be a key part of the maintenance and quality of our whole network fibre map which will become essential to many parts of the company. Under supervision, you will primarily be responsible for digitising all of our legacy network onto our fibre management system, whilst also assisting with the general day-to-day tasks of the Architect and Design Team.


The successful candidate will need to be proactive, willing to learn new skills and technologies, and enjoy working independently as well as part of a team.

Responsibilities:

  • Digitising our legacy network geometries onto our fibre management system, using range of methods and data from systems including QGIS and Google Earth.
  • Converting and Import all of the network splice maps into our fibre management system. This will involve communicating with network engineers in the field to ensure accuracy
  • Updating Splicing records as changes occur in the network
  • Assisting the Fibre Network Architect with general administrative tasks
  • Updating maps and systems with new information from the field.
  • Assisting the Fibre Network Architect with day-to-day splicing queries and map updates.

Requirements:

  • Experience with GIS Mapping and using GIS Software.
  • Great communication skills
  • Takes a proactive approach to problem solving
  • Honesty and reliability
  • The ability to work on your own initiative with strong self-organisational skills
  • A strong willingness to learn new skills and adapt to evolving processes
  • Must hold a full UK driving licence for at least 12 months
  • Punctuality and work efficiently and effectively

Salary:Up to £26,000 DOE

Role Type: Full Time/Permanent

Hours:40 hours per week, Monday – Friday

Location: Office Near Blandford

Office Status: Flexible (2+ days office-based per week)

Holiday: 25 days plus bank holidays
