JOB PURPOSE

Liberty Global’s Central function comprises of a number of holding and operational entities operating in multiple currencies and jurisdictions. The holding entities hold investments in Liberty Global’s operations e.g. Vodafone Ziggo and Virgin Media; and the operational entities procure and develop software on behalf of the group. The Liberty Global Central Financial Accounts team within the LGSSC performs non-trade accounting (below operating profit) for these entities on both a standalone and group basis. This includes fixed assets, vendor finance, cash, group reporting and minority investments.

The Financial Accounts Accountant role has been created by the planned reshore of the Liberty Global Shared Service Centre’s offshore operations in Bangalore, India to Bradford, UK. The role will suit an individual with an interest in a career in finance and who wishes to pursue an accountancy qualification. The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, be deadline focused and with an aptitude for process improvement and simplification. Candidates who have started their studies for an accounting qualification (e.g. AAT / ACCA / ACA / CIMA) and wish to continue will be considered for this position.

Key Accountabilities

Accountabilities include but are not limited to:
  • Month end accounting for Liberty Global Central including preparing journals
  • Data processing e.g. raising invoices or performing daily bank reconciliations
  • SOX compliance
  • Participation in ad-hoc projects driven by wider group restructuring e.g. planned sale of 50% stake in Virgin Media to Telefonica, and transition of accounting from intercompany to joint venture; ERP migration from Oracle r11 to Oracle r12
  • Knowledge transfer / reshore activities:
    • Transition activities from Bangalore, India to Bradford, UK, ensuring no reduction in outputs
    • Improve processes, driving simplification and automation of intercompany accounting
