JOB PURPOSE

Financial Accounts are responsible for developing and delivering Liberty Global’s Central Operations and Virgin Media’s financial accounting activity, including: reporting monthly results to Liberty Global; BOCF accounting and reporting (debt, derivatives); fixed assets, inventory and lease accounting; group consolidation accounting; tax accounting; the preparation of statutory accounts and balance sheet and working capital analysis.

The role sits within the VM Fixed Assets team which is responsible for the accounting for and reporting of Fixed Assets, inventory, leases and capital projects.

Key Accountabilities

  • Management of two direct reports who are responsible for Inventory and lease accounting and reporting
  • Responsible for the categorisation and mapping of VM’s Capex spend (£1bn pa), and various related month end activities
  • Responsible for Capex governance and ensuring the structure of the Oracle projects module supports the various business requirements
  • Involvement in various projects such as those relating to the proposed merger with O2 ( policy alignment, converged capex reporting)
  • Ownership of the Capex intercompany processes
  • Liaising with internal and external auditors around all aspects of inventory , leasing and Capex
Knowledge & Experience

PREFERRED EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Professional Accountancy qualification (ACA; ACCA etc) with at least 1 to 3 year PQE.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS. Experience of working within large corporate structures.
  • Exposure to the Oracle Projects module would be an advantage, although not essential.
  • Strong excel skills essential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience of working in a complex environment, delivering to deadlines.
  • Financial systems skills beneficial (e.g. Oracle, Hyperion/HFM)
